How to talk about Race (and traumatic racist events) with the Young Child.

UPDATE: This conversation has been archived on the Sow Well Tots Instagram and Facebook pages (linked at top of page), and will be available on YouTube soon. Thank you to the hundreds of poeple you tuned in live and the THOUSANDS who have streamed and shared it since!

Join Bessie Jones and Mikaela Simms for a conversation, including your questions, on Instagram LIVE on Sunday June 7th, 2020 3 PM EST. Bessie and Mikaela will bring their years of expertise working with young children and facilitating social justice education in order to help parents understand how to engage in social justice work with integrity and respect for child development.

We want to speak to violence against Black people and the incredibly challenging, heartbreaking, outrageous events happening all over our country.  The blatant racism and extreme violence is a lot to process, and if you are following the news on social media it truly is an unceasing barrage of deeply disturbing, traumatizing imagery.  Many people have reached out in solidarity and also with questions about how to navigate racism (and intense racist events) with young children.  In this conversation we aim to guide and support you in your learning. We hope you can join the conversation. This talk is open to caregivers raising children of all backgrounds and identities.
